For the past 5 years my husband Bill and I have gone on a detox in February. We cut out sugar, flour, processed food and caffeine. We eat fresh food, fruits, lots of veggies, brown rice, brown rice pasta, brown rice pancakes, rice cakes and lean meats, chicken and fish we drink water. It takes lots of willpower; saying no to Super Bowl snacks, Valentines Candy, Girl Scout Cookies and "fast food". Everyone always asks why February and I say "it's the shortest month of the year." The first couple of days is hard, I feel sluggish and have a little head ache but 1/3 of the way into it I feel great, I sleep soundly and wake up feeling fresh and ready to tackle the day with vigor and enthusiasm. I stay that way until about 10:30 then I hit the pillow and quickly go to sleep. Lastly the winter fat cells are going away, my jeans are a little looser.
